Special Interest Speakers

Special Interest Speakers

From art history to zoology and everything in between, Sixth Star provides speakers on just about any subject, including hot news buttons of the day.

Special Interest Speakers should discuss their area of expertise in a fun, educating and entertaining manner. The door is wide-open when it comes to this position as numerous fields of study are applicable. In the past, we have placed experts in opera, cooking, wine, art, movies, astronomy, lighthouses, animals, etc.

In the photo above, Special Interest Speaker Kathy Slamp of Lynnwood, Washington presents a program about Alaska's glaciers to a packed house aboard Royal Caribbean's Vision of the Seas.

The Special Interest Speaker provides a series of original presentations that would be of interest to the cruise guests. An expert on theater may give speeches on "The History of Rodgers & Hammerstein", "The Life of an Actor" or "How to Write a Screenplay".

Special Interest Speakers who are placed by Sixth Star are offered the luxuries of a fine voyage in a passenger stateroom with full passenger privileges in exchange for their services and a small administrative fee of $65 per day for each day of the cruise. This fee covers the costs associated with the application processing, interviewing, correspondence on behalf of the cruise lines, form completions and all other steps necessary to complete your cruise placement. Included with your per night fee, we welcome you to bring one companion to sail in the same stateroom at no additional charge. Please note that the daily administrative fee for Regent Seven Seas Cruises is $100 per day due to the all inclusive nature of these ultra-luxurious voyages (gratuities included, etc.).

During a typical week at sea, Speakers traditionally deliver three to four 35-minute presentations, with 10 minutes at the end for questions and answers. Presentations should be very entertaining (or as we like to say, "edu-tainment"), and we highly encourage the use of professional presentation tools, including slides and Power Point presentations.

The Special Interest Speaker must be an excellent and experienced public speaker as typical audience size ranges from 50-300 passengers for each talk. However, good news travels fast aboard ships and excellent Speakers have been known to pack the house!
