Apply to Teach Texas 42 aboard Cruise Ships

Often referred to as “the National Game of Texas,” Texas 42 is a popular domino game similar in strategy to the card game Bridge, but not as complicated. As a new program on board Royal Caribbean's Rhapsody of the Seas, we will be featuring experts in the game of Texas 42 who will instruct passengers on how to play and improve their game and host game play on each sea day.

Aboard ship, Texas 42 Instructors must be friendly, flexible and excellent socializers with outgoing, dynamic personalities. The Instructor will be responsible for teaching lessons for absolute beginners and intermediate/advanced players. Each lesson is followed by game play on each day the ship is at sea and on select port days. Texas 42 Instructors are also responsible for keeping an accurate count of the ship’s Texas 42 permanent and consumable supplies, such as dominos, pads of paper, and pens.

Texas 42 & Texas Hold’em Combined Program
Due to the increasing popularity of the card game, Texas Hold’em Poker, we are also seeking Texas 42 Instructors that are proficient in Texas Hold’em to offer a combined program of the two games. This would not increase the number of overall sessions you conduct. If you would be comfortable conducting a combined program, please indicate this on your online application form and inform the Sixth Star Representative at the time of your qualification interview.

Terms and Conditions
Texas 42 Instructors who are placed by Sixth Star are offered the luxuries of a fine voyage in a passenger stateroom with full passenger privileges in exchange for their services and a small administrative fee of $50 per day for each day of the cruise. The instructor is welcome to bring a guest to sail in the same cabin free of charge. Other amenities may be provided as this varies according to the engagement and the cruise line.
