  • Everyone loves to bring home a fun, visual memory of their cruise vacation, which is why Caricature Artists are so popular on board ships. Sixth Star currently places Caricature Artists aboard ships to serve as part of the ship’s enrichment staff.

Everyone loves to bring home a fun, visual memory of their cruise vacation, which is why Caricature Artists are so popular on board ships. Sixth Star currently places Caricature Artists aboard several ships to serve as part of the ship’s enrichment staff.

During a cruise assignment, a Caricature Artist’s responsibility is to provide quick and fun caricature drawings which are offered at no charge to passengers. Usually, the Caricaturist is situated in popular, high-traffic areas of the ship sketching individuals, as well as groups of family and friends traveling together. As a general rule of thumb, less than five minutes should be spent on each drawing each individual.

Caricature Artists have an opportunity to be creative. Many have incorporated nautical elements in their sketches, such as positioning the subject on the bow of a cruise ship, etc. And in addition to artistic skills, shipboard Caricaturists must be friendly, creative and have excellent social skills.

Caricaturists who are placed by Sixth Star are offered the luxuries of a fine voyage in a passenger stateroom with full passenger privileges in exchange for their services and an administrative fee of $40 per day for each day of the cruise. This fee covers the costs associated with the application processing, interviewing, correspondence on behalf of the cruise lines, form completions and all other steps necessary to complete your cruise placement. Included with your per night fee, we welcome you to bring one companion to sail in the same stateroom at no additional charge.

The Caricaturist is welcome to bring a guest to sail in the same cabin free of charge. Caricaturists must provide all of the supplies necessary to conduct the sessions, such as pens, paper, and easel, etc…

During a typical week at sea, a Caricaturist would conduct approximately six separate two-hour sessions. The sessions are usually conducted when the ship is at sea, so that Caricaturists and their guests have free time to enjoy the ports of call on the itinerary. Programs may also take place on mornings at sea before an afternoon port call, and afternoons at sea after a morning port call. Evening sessions might also be required. Verbally soliciting the passengers for tips is strictly prohibited. However, you may accept non-solicited tips via a tipping jar.

One day might feature lessons on traditional ballroom dance techniques including the waltz and the foxtrot, while the next might be spent teaching line dancing and the Macarena. • Are you able to lecture on a specific destination? Our Destination Lecturers range from specialists on the Panama Canal to the Mediterranean. Whatever your destination lecturing specialty, we have a position available for you.

A Destination Speaker’s responsibility is to give a series of original presentations illustrating the culture and history of the ports of call on a given cruise itinerary. For instance, a Speaker on a cruise to Mexico may discuss the Mexican-American War, foreign policy between the United States and Mexico, or the culture of the country. The talks should not be a reiteration of what to see-and-do in Puerto Vallarta. Rather, they should provide the guests with insight into the ports that one would not be able to find in an average guidebook.

Destination Speakers who are placed by Sixth Star are offered the luxuries of a fine voyage in a passenger stateroom with full passenger privileges in exchange for their services and a small administrative fee of $65 per day for each day of the cruise. This fee covers the costs associated with application processing, interviewing, correspondence on behalf of the cruise lines, form completions and all other steps necessary to complete your cruise placement. Included with your per night fee, we welcome you to bring one companion to sail in the same stateroom at no additional charge. Please note that the daily fee for Regent Seven Seas Cruises is $100 per day due to the all inclusive nature of these ultra-luxurious voyages (gratuities included, etc.).

During a typical week at sea, Speakers traditionally deliver three to four 35-minute presentations, with 10 minutes at the end for questions and answers. Presentations should be very entertaining (or as we like to say, “edu-tainment”), and we highly encourage the use of professional presentation tools, including slides and Power Point presentations.

The Destination Speaker must have strong credentials and be an excellent and experienced public speaker as typical audience size ranges from 50-300 passengers for each talk. However, good news travels fast aboard ships and excellent Speakers have been known to pack the house!
